Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The estates on the Ionic hills of Basilicata, where our property is located, have been producing olive oil since the times of Magna Graecia. This legacy still inspires our olive growing: we never use pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The property, touched by the Agri river, is only a few kilometers from the seaside and benefits from a special microclimate which optimises the organoleptic and sensory potentialities and qualities of our centenarian trees.

100% made in Italy, natural and healthy, our extra virgin olive oil is truly hand-made from early harvest olives, to preserve and maximise the concentration of phenol compounds, and is cold extracted immediately – no later than 24 hours of coming off the tree – to keep the acidity at the lowest level possible. Once extracted, our extra virgin olive oil is poured into stainless steel bins and hermetically sealed to avoid any contact with the atmosphere – as this would dramatically accelerate its oxidation – so that it can naturally settle. Once settled, Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni is bottled.

We are very strict in following the above-mentioned procedure as the high concentration of phenol compounds and low acidity of our extra virgin olive oil are the hallmarks of our top quality product. In particular, the phenol compounds – their concentration – are very important, also for the human body, as they are antioxidants exerting, among many benefits, anti-aging properties and health benefits.

Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni is a top quality niche product: we only produce single varietal extra virgin olive oil from the native olive variety Ogliarola del Bradano.

This is another key point of our production. We have always rejected the idea to make a blend of extra virgin olive oils, indeed. And this is because we want to preserve the uniqueness as well as the personality of our extra virgin olive oil, which is directly and strongly connected to the territory, ground and environment where our olive trees are grown. And even if it is more difficult, complex and risky to make a good single varietal extra virgin olive oil rather than just a blended extra virgin olive oil, we prefer to take such risk and difficulties as the outcome is so very well worth it. Just like a preciously sophisticated wine coming from only one grape variety - the finest one! -, Olio Extravergine d’Oliva Bruni is more sophisticated than blended extra virgin olive oils and with a strongly defined personality. It is extremely rare, indeed, to find single varietal extra virgin olive oils in even high quality food shops and surely you will not find them in supermarkets. Unless you know exactly what you are looking for, it is such a hidden treasure you will hardly ever spot it...

Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni, a superior category olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means, with its intense fruity aromas reminiscent of artichoke and freshly cut grass mixed with bitter, spicy flavours and rich antioxidant properties, is the ideal ingredient to bring out the flavour of any dish. Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni is also suitable for frying.

You can choose between Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni “Gran Fruttato” and Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni “Denocciolato”. They are both top quality extra virgin olive oils. However, whilst Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni “Gran Fruttato” is made from whole olives, Olio Extravergine d'Oliva Bruni “Denocciolato” is made only from the pulp of the olives, it is just olive juice, an elixir molecularly more sophisticated than any other extra virgin olive oil and where the concentration of phenol compounds is even higher.
